Armistice 100

CIMG1474.JPG

The sacrifice of those who fought and died in the First World War was remembered in a packed service on Sunday 11 November, as members of South Chingford Methodist Church and the local community joined St Edmund’s. Perspex silhouettes from the ‘There But Not There – An Installation for the Fallen’ were placed in the pews among the congregation, and two-minutes’ silence was kept after the names of the Fallen from South Chingford were read aloud. The congregation then processed with poppies – specially made by the children of the church and girlguiding organisations – and tied them on to the railings in front of the halls on Chingford Mount Road.
