110 years of a Witnessing Community

In January 1909, what is now the Ryan Hall was dedicated by the then Bishop of St Albans as a place of worship for the people of South Chingford. Today we met at the Chingford Mount crossroads and processed with stops for prayer at Suitability Cleaners (where the first pre-build services were held) and the Ryan Hall, before a celebratory service in the present Church. Canon Keith Anderson – former chorister at St Edmund’s in the early 1960s – preached, and was joined by a large congregation including others from Keith’s time at St Edmund’s.
